Visit the “heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains” and tour Burt Farm, the Cashier Historic Society’s featured show house. Showing is from August 12 through August 26 and is located on Norton Road. Tickets are available at the Cashiers Area Chamber online and at other select outlets.
Meet a Pirate
Known for being the third oldest town in North Carolina, Beaufort was first surveyed in 1713 and was often frequented by the infamous Captain Blackbeard. This weekend, the pirates come back to life with over 100 pirate and militia re-enactors roaming the town in full character. There will be musical entertainment, vendors, and mock battles throughout the day.
Art in the Park
See Blowing Rock’s annual arts and crafts show featuring 90 artists. Browse countless displays and speak with the artists about their work, as you roam through the beautiful scenery of Park Avenue. The show begins this Saturday at 10 a.m.
Wrightsville Beach will host the Wahine Classic, the beach’s beloved surfing tradition. The forum is for all levels of female surfers of amateur to professional experience. Divisions include: Pro Longboard and Shortboard, Amateur Longboard and Shortboard, Stand Up Paddleboard, and a Tiny Whine event to complete the competition. Brevard Music Center
Come hear great musical works spanning from Beethoven to Bluegrass at the Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium, Brevard’s open-air theatre by the lake. There are over 80 concerts spanning over the next ten weeks, featuring orchestra, opera, chamber, pops, cabaret, and country.
