Five Tips to Optimize Your Real Estate Instagram Account

We all know the basics of Instagram: snap a picture of dinner, apply a cool filter, hashtag something along the lines of “yum,” and send it out to the masses. But if you aren’t implementing Instagram into your real estate business, you’re missing out. Instagram users have shared over 40 billion photos to date, and share an average of 95 million photos and videos per day. Continue reading below to find out ways you can create a killer Instagram account to boost your real estate marketing strategy.

Your Profile

First, if you haven’t already, you need to switch your account over to a business profile. By doing this, you will have access to data such as traffic, clicks, and demographics, which will help you get a better understanding of your prospective clients and narrow down your marketing efforts.

Your Name

Add some keywords to your name in order to make your profile more searchable. Instagram is a social media platform, but it’s also a search engine. Adding to your profile name a word or two that describes your niche or location will help you move higher up on the search list.

Your Bio

Don’t write your zodiac sign or what your pet’s name is in your bio. New followers and people viewing your Instagram account don’t want to know that kind of stuff. What they are going to want to know is who you are and how to reach you. Your bio should do just that – no more, no less – focusing specifically on your specialty and contact information. Here’s an example of a proper REALTOR® bio:

“I specialize in helping home buyers realize their dreams. Feel free to reach me anytime at 888-888-8888.”

Photos and Video

Keep your media content consistent. This not only goes for things like filters and color scheme but also hashtags and listings. You don’t want to post a photo of a listing in San Francisco when your business is in Charlotte. And always tag the location of your listing along with some search-friendly hashtags. Use Stories

People love to see the stories behind the scenes, especially in real estate. Using Instagram Stories allows you to share multiple photos and videos in a slideshow format. This works great for behind the scenes content, like open houses or buyers’ reactions when they get the keys to their dream home.

Instagram is a great way to utilize photos and videos to build your brand and show your story. Be sure to tag us in your next Instagram post #ncrealtors!
