NC REALTORS® Applauds Passage of House Bill 142
Raleigh, North Carolina (March 30, 2017) – NC REALTORS®, a nonpartisan, non-profit trade association, applauds the passage of House Bill 142. Due to the endorsement of legislative leaders on both sides of the aisle, and the work of stakeholders representing the state’s business community, including NC REALTORS®, bi-partisan legislation passed the House and Senate and was signed by the Governor today.
While NC REALTORS® did not take a formal position on House Bill 142, the Association has consistently communicated with legislators and stakeholders that the REALTOR® Code of Ethics expressly prohibits discrimination against individuals due to race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
“NC REALTORS® commends the General Assembly and Governor Cooper for leading the way to a compromise. The passage of this legislation will allow our state, its people and economic future to continue to prosper,” said NC REALTORS® Chief Executive Officer Andrea Bushnell. “REALTORS® have consistently supported policies of inclusion in both housing and our profession, and we are proud to do so.”
