As a nine-year FPC veteran, Lolita Malave considers herself a political junkie!  She enjoys the opportunity to relay information that will benefit the REALTOR® community and their clients to her assigned FPC contact, Congresswoman Alma Adams.

If you are interested in the FPC program, you should always be aware that your Member of Congress relies on you to be their feet on the ground in-district. That means you must always be prepared and ready to help. Part of that preparation is to communicate accurate and helpful information.

When asked if it was challenging building the relationship with her Member of Congress, Lolita explained that it was not challenging initially but since her Congressional member’s district changed, it has made things more challenging.

Challenging or not, she believes the best way to continue growing the relationship with your Member of Congress is to schedule in-district visits.

Lolita’s advice to members wanting to get involved is to start with inquiring about being a Contact Team Member, express a desire to help and stay informed.

When asked whether she had any special memories to share, Lolita was seated with her Member of Congress on a flight to Washington, DC one year. They had conversations about everything other than the talking points. It was a wonderful experience because it was a chance to have fun conversations not related to advocacy work, which is how relationships are built.
