Name: Wendy Harris

Current location: Fayetteville
Title: Broker Owner
Number of years in the industry: 16
Why I love what I do: Everyday is so challenging. I love having an impact. I have always been a hands on person who enjoys things such as gardening and cooking, where you can see things come together under your touch. Real estate is very much the same to me. I see the impact in our industry as well as me personally have each day. It is the most rewarding work I have ever done.
Favorite work story: Recently I happened to answer the phone in my office and a past client of mine was on the telephone. We met 15 years ago when I sold them a house, and we had managed there property for 10 years since they were re-stationed. They were ready to sell their house to buy their retirement home. We had a great conversation, and at the end she said of the things she and her family would miss most about Fayetteville, My team and I were one of them. That made my entire day!
What I’m most proud of in my career: I was dedicating a 47 home community with Governor Cooper, OEM Director Mike Sprayberry, and Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity CEO Tammy Laurence in November 2018. One of the approved families for a house was there and as a group of us were talking, the future homeowner said, “Ms. Harris, I remember you showing up in my neighborhood after Hurricane Matthew, and I saw you in my community every day for weeks after. You never stopped caring. I’ve missed you but knew you were somewhere still working for us. I came here today and see you have some part in me getting a new home in an area I know will not flood and I can finally start rebuilding my life. I will never forget you.” All I could say was, “I can’t believe you remember me after everything you went through.” This alone makes it all worth it.
Why I’m a member of NC REALTORS®: Our industry is a small part of a larger picture that has the purest and non-self-serving objectives of any industry I have been a part of in my life. We will be successful as an association and industry by aiding our communities through homeownership and homeownership rights. To be successful in your career by giving back to your community and industry…wow…how many people can say they are involved in anything so generous and impactful?
Fun Fact: I have lived on 3 continents, in 5 countries, 7 states and on a sailboat.
